New Moon Feb. 2011

New Moon Feb. 2011

Let's start some getting used to English through talking about astrology.  Since we are going to invite Mr. Noel Tyl, the most insightful psychological astrologer of our time, to Japan, it is wonderful if you understand his English directly!  For that purpose, it is nice to have the opportunity to get used to English through astrological talk.  Starting this month, I will write this article in English.  I will keep the format the same as when I was writing this in Japanese, so some of you who are regular readers might easily understand what I am talking about.

Now the New Moon occurs on Feb. 3, 2011, 11:30 JST (all the timing in this article is to be calculated in JST) at the 14th degree of Aquarius.  And this month, the Full Moon occurs in Leo Moon opposing Aquarius Sun, so I will talk about some of the themes of this fire-air polarity.  Both signs belong to masculine signs and are oriented toward new development or change.  But both also belong to fixed signs so the pace of development might be slow and steady.  Imagining the Moon as a container and the Sun as energy to fill it, we have Aquarian socially conscious energy to fulfill collective creative self-expression of the culture as container for this Moon month.  It is not constructive if you get too socially conscious to the extent that it gives threat to those vivid self-expressive portion of everybody's nature.  Let's see what's going on in the world with these points of view in mind for this Moon month.

Aspects to the Sun

After contacting Uranus and Jupiter, and then ingressing into Aquarius, the Sun has no aspect contact (other than Moon) until it catches up with Mars on Feb. 5th, a day and a half after the New Moon.  It carries the intense expansive energy of Uranus-Jupiter and is going to mix it with Mars' energy to act out!  The image suggests that leadership is going to say or do something to broaden the border and let air in.  Well, it is not only conjoining Mars but also trining Saturn (on 7th).  So the argument which was going on since latter part of Jan. seems to come finally to a conclusion and something is to be put forth.  It is interesting to note the election of the governor of Aichi-prefecture and the referendum in Nagoya was dated on Feb. 6th of the critical day we were talking about.

The Sun then travels on through Aquarius and meets Neptune on Feb. 17th.  The leaders might become blurred or idealistic at this time.  And then on the 19th, Sun moves into the Neptune ruled sign of Pisces.  And on 25th and 26th, Sun is in touch with Mercury and Pluto, suggesting some conspiracy behind the scenes or some exposure of secrets involving leaders.  Leaders can also persuade people with deep knowledge and insights.

Aspects among the rest of the planets

An important aspect of note among outer planets is Jupiter-Pluto square, which occurs on Feb. 26.  It is the last of the three squares with other 2 have already occurred in the last summer.  This pairing suggests philosophical and ethical pursuit or advocation, and might lead to change in general abstract sense of perspective about socio-future.

The next planet to look at is Venus, which has just touched with Neptune and Uranus right before the New Moon.  Venus correlates with aesthetic values and social relationships, and Neptune and Uranus adds misty, magical, strange or intense colors to the Venus symbolism.  One might be easily allured by new and free relationships or things of pleasure.  Bipartisan or even strange cooperative relations could be formed.  In winter season, I sometimes observe that when those Uranus or Neptune touches one of personal planets like Venus, it snows.  Venus then moves into Capricorn where it meets Jupiter (7th), Pluto (10th) and Saturn (19th).  This translation of light via Venus in theory can be utilized constructively to form a grand cooperative posture in an organization.  But it is not always the case.  For example, from May 17th to 24th of last year, there was a similar Venus translation of light with different order, though, and what happened?  The Japan Socialist Party had gotten out of the coalition government.  But the point is we are stimulated about how to cooperate with all the different preferences and posture we each have.  And then on March 1st, Venus touches Uranus and sudden intense change in value or relationship might be experienced with pleasure, perhaps.

Next let's look at what Mercury is up to.  Just the same day as the New Moon occurs, right before the New Moon, Mercury touches Uranus.  So nature of the pairing, for example quick spontaneous thinking and communications, prevail during this Moon month.  Then Mercury goes on into Aquarius to contact Jupiter (6th) and Saturn (14th).  We can anticipate a lot of talk about how the society or organization as a whole should behave, and how to improve the organization.  And on the magical day of Feb. 21st, Mercury will meet Mars and Neptune at the same time.  Plan a dream to come true with a sense of realism at hand.  Point can be easily lost in a swirl of everyone's wish or sigh.  Then, Mercury ingresses into dreamy Pisces and catches up with the Sun, to whisper things into the leader's ear.

Now we come to the action department, Mars.  But all Mars involvement in major aspect activity during the course of this Moon month has already appeared in the above text, so let's review.  On Feb. 5th, Mars conjoins Sun and then on 7th, Mars trines Saturn.  This suggests leaderships will assert and get things done.  Then on 21st, Mars meets Mercury and Neptune.  It suggests to plan to put ideal into action and realism is the key not to lose sights.  Mars, then goes into the next sign and we will talk about it in the next section.

Planets which change direction or sign

Planets other than Sun and Moon sometimes change their direction of apparent movement seen from the earth.  When a planet changes its direction, it moves slowly and may leave its mark on various social events in the world.  Within this Moon month, there is no planet changing its direction.

And planets, especially those that move slowly, change their signs in sync with shifts in corresponding profile of social or collective psychology.  Within this Moon month, among the planets which travel slower than the earth is Mars, which changes its sign from Aquarius to Pisces on Feb. 23rd.  Since the sign of Mars corresponds to the way people apply energy, from that date on, people might tend to do things intuitively, having dreams or ideals in their mind, rather than following logic or theory.

During this Moon month, keeping the points I have raised above, let's try to use our Aquarian Sun's socio-sensitive energy to fulfill self-expressive cultural needs of Leo Moon of this month.  It should be interesting to observe those symbols reflected in the real socio-situations in the world.
